Well, I noticed the Maxi-Jet pumps seem to be reliable and are cheaper than a Danner. They also seem to be smaller than a Danner in the pictures, but I could be wrong. I've been looking for a smaller pump. Is the Maxi-Jet pump smaller than the Danner, and what size fittings does it have? Anything else I should know about it?

They are smaller and they are reliable. I've had one running for about 8 years almost continuosily. I'm not sure what size fittings they have. I was nover really concerned about it. The largest they gave is 295 gph and costs about $20. What ever you do don't use a Rio, they tend to just stop working.
