Default Need some advise

Ok i am getting a new Gaming system. I am getting a Soltek rev2 motherboard with an xp1900+ and pc2400 mushkin memory (2-3-3) I will be using my gainward geforce3, and an audigy soundcard.

The only use fer the system will be gaming, burnung cd's and surfing the net. I will be unlocking the proc and overclocking it and the Geforce3. I want stability overall.

My question is: Will it be beneficial to get 2 256 ram chips or just one.

yes it will. 512 IS better than 256.
and, if u use them in CL2 they will be even more efficient than in CAS2 (2-3-3)

I wouldn't be so sure about buying 2 sticks, ram is fairly costly again, and it may lessen your fsb having two ram slots filled. Most people doing 3dmark2k1 scores above 13000 points are just using 128mb or 256mb ram as one chip

Ya I have reard that the timings are faster with one chip. Is there an arguement why you need 512 mb of ram on a workstation. I use cacheman5.0 and i naver have less that 288mb free. Right now i am using 2 256 mb pc2100 ddr ram.

Thanks fer the comments, and please continue your advise.

my laptop has been on for over 6 weeks now, it has 256mb ram. Every application between Q3A and icq has been used. It's using 52% of the ram right now, with ie, oe, irc, icq, ms paint and photoshop open

Apache? Did I not say i was running a workstation?
Ram will not fill up cause i use cacheman which controls how apps use memory and dll's.

Ya ima get one 256 chip. Since I am saving money ill get the pc2700 stuff so i can get my fsb up even higher. Thanks Brad.
