Mild water cooling, mainly for silence

With all the knowledge floating around here, I can't think of a better place to ask this question....

I'm not an extreme overclocker, although I may o/c a little. I mainly want to switch to water to get rid of HSF and case fan noise. I'd also like to fit everything inside my case, an Antec SX830 full tower. Can all you water gurus recommend the parts I'll need...rad, block, pump, ect... Or maybe even a complete kit like the ones on the Dden site? This will be cooling an XP2000 or maybe a T-Bred as soon as they hit the market, and maybe my G3 also.

Nothing extreme with 4 120mm fans on the rad or anything, just a quiet setup that'll keep things cool, and fit inside the case.

Thanks in advance.....

basically get what DDen sells, as you mentioned, although I would buy a big rad that can handle two 120's on each side, simply because they can be 69cfm fans, even 5v'ed they'd cool well. No point buying a rad that needs one 120mm fan at 90cfm or so, when 2 61cfm's will be much quieter, and cool better

*Pump:
get an eheim pump cause they are damn reliable and teh quietest. (1250 cause its best for the money)

*Rad:
if you have the money get a BlackIce extreme (cause its smaller and looks better),
or just get a heatercore and put some extra work into converting it,
or get a pre converted one from dangerden.

or if you are doing an aluminum setup you could get those Hayden LPD rads that dangerden has (they dont perform as good)

the above rads require the least pressure for fans...

*Block: since you dont care about performance it doesnt matter

So I guess my biggest question mark is the rad, since everyone seems to praise the ehiem pumps, and just about any block wil serve my purpose.

I was looking around today and saw "the cooling cube" at Dden. It seems as thought it would fit in my case, and is big enough for a set of 120mm fans. Any comments on this rad?

This is my parts list so far, tell me good or bad, I'm a noob with water:

Ehiem 1250 With 1/2 to 3/8 adapter
Maze2 block (good enough right?)
Block for Geforce3 (recommendations anyone?)
"cooling cube" from Dden (3/8 in and out)
2x Sunon 120mm 90CFM Fan (think I'll run em off a 12v line with a pot,or use the 5 and 12 with a dpdt switch so I can tame em down a bit when idle)
10 feet clear silicon hose w/10 clamps
Resevoir (type and size?)

OK, That should get me up and runnin. I have 4 (2 in, 2 out) 80 MM case fans at the moment, but I'll probably have to lose the 2 intake to make room for the rad under the HDDs.

I'm not a big fan of cubes. They perform worse then cores and hurt flow. Not to mention they cost more. The advatage is that they are small.

If you need the space, then a core is a good choice. Otherwise you can do better for the money.

the cooling cube kills you flow, and requires a rather high CFM fan to pull air all the way through it. I would strongly suggest a Heatercore type radiator from Dangerden or DTEK with one or 2 Panaflow L1As. The heatercore type has the lowest pressure drop of any radiator, and doesn't require a high CFM or static pressure fan to cool VERY well.

OK.....

Scratch the cube, how bout this one? Looks like a heater core to me, but it is small enough to fit inside the case...I think...And it's only $30, but is it any good?

Even though I'm not planning any extreme o/cing, I'm a firm believer that you get what ya pay for, so I don't mind paying for quality...the last thing I want is a leak. What about a reservoir, or will the rad hold enough water for the system?

look like an aluminum rad to me, and you dont want an aluminum / copper system. id just get the heater core unit from DD for $35...its much better as well.

Well, that answers one of my questions, heater core type rad is the way to go. Now...I still don't know what to do about the reservoir. I'm starting to think I'm gonna have to have some of this stuff outside the case(doesnt seem like it would all fit), which I realy don't wanna do. Do most of you guys have your water systems totaly inside your case, or maybe have the rad bolted to the back of the case?

Anyway.......What about the reservoir thing?

you should have plenty of room in your case. as for the res, you could just do the T-fitting & fill line deal. ive heard that gas tanks for RC cars & planes make decent reseviors (for an in-line system). you get the benefits of having an inline system (WP doesnt heat up water) as well as the convenience of having the res.

as I said before, buy a heatercore, as large as possible and run a couple of low cfm 120's on it, at 5v
