Default Just got my XP333-R Rev. 2.1!!! PICS!

Woohoo! I just got it in the mail today. Too bad I don't have any memory for it yet. That should get here tomorrow or the day after tomorrow at the latest. I followed the tip of someone in the AMDMB IWill forums that all MWave boards were Rev. 2.1 and I took the plunge. Here's some pics to clear up any confusion about exactly what the Version 2.1 boards might look like. I'll post a bigger pic of the board layout in 5 minutes... brb.

Yeah it's a nice board, but it's false advertising...

Even if you get DDR that will run stock (yes... an evil thing running stock) at 333mhz ddr, the AMD FSB on the chip is only "designed" to run 266mhz ddr... So you can't 'technically' run it at 333mhz ddr without overclocking.

Which is fine with me, I'm all for the OCing, I just think it's false advertising....

Plus I'll always (probably always) go Abit anyways. I love their mobo's.

Wrong. They advertise that their board can run at DDR333. They don't say AMD chips are spec'd for it. They just say they support it, which they do.
Yah Abit boards are nice, but carry a price premium and i've RMAed way too many since the BX6r2. Actually I am starting to prefer Iwill over the other manufacturers. I love their 815E board too. Abit is probably second best though as far as my experieneces go. Would be first if it weren't for the RMAs.

Well ok... on their site they say

"Bus Frequency Supports 200/266Mhz FSB"

Then they say "System Memory DDR333 enables 2.7 GB/s peak bandwidth".

Now you tell me, that when they say the bus only supports up to 266Mhz, but the memory supports up to 333. Something's fishy.... I'm sorry, I view it as false advertising.

I've NEVER had a problem with Abit, loved every board I've had, and every board I've used to build a computer for someone. But to each his own.

Okay whatever. They say 200/266 bus cuz those are the only FSBs that AMD has. But you can overclock to 333 no problem and be completely in SPEC. So that is supported as well. Obviously it is a touchy subject because by calling it XP333, they are advocating overclocking. Rather than make an overclocking board and say they don't support it like Abit does, they make one and ****in name the board after its o/cability.

I can see how maybe these factoids from the website mislead you as they are confusing, but they are definitely not false. Nothing said was a lie.

Ok...I completly understand that the board can support the 333 fsb (I'm not a moron =P ).

Let's just say that it's misleading to the average consumer (which was the point of view I was trying to show).

Other than that, I'm done with this thread

Are you saying its misleading becasue people may think their chip will run at 333mhz as standard, my thinking is 99% of people buying their own board will have above average knowledge of computers so won't be misled, these boards won't be in pre built comps for ages yet. Plus most people advertise pc2400 and pc2700 ram as enhanced performance ram, which indicates their usefulness in o/cing. If so these boards are purely for o/clockers.

It is actually a great camera. Look at the pics in all the articles i've written. But I just couldn't get the overhead shots to work right. They'd either turn out sharp and full of glare or blurry w/out glare. Just a matter of tweaking something I have no idea how to tweak i s'pose .

I'm an asus man myself.

However, I want to point out one thing.

ALL MOTHERBOARD MANUFACTURERS SUCK!!!

Just IMO asus sucks the least.

The reason being is that the motherboard has so many register settings and there are so many traces and components it interacts with, there are bound to be problems. With every motherboard released, you will find just as many people thrilled with the motherboard and just as many people hating it. IMO I don't like Iwill, but thats just because I had bad luck with their KK266-R board. So I won't buy them again. Not saying they are bad boards overall, but in my experience they sucked. My friend has an KK266 and it has worked flawlessly for him. I'm probably just pointing the obvious out. Granted there are better manufactures and boards out there than others, but each system is different and everyone will get different results.

I need a haircut.

Kevin, The best thing you can do with lighting is use natural light. If you want to get impressive overhead shots wait to there’s an overcast day. Use the flash as a fill flash for shadows. Mount the camera on tripod…..
