Only if you work in Unigraphics or the like all the time. Check out the 3DLabs Wildcad 5xxx line, they have some crazy stuff too.

Nice looking card and all, but I think I'd prefer giving gainward that much money and asking for the best ti4600 they can produce

Yea it looks cool. You should see the FireGL2 (there is a picture on aceshardware.com) the entire front of the PCB is cover with a gigantic thin heatsink.

I will reply to this for each of the two graphics cards.
1) You know your computer sucks if your video card has a larger HSF than your CPU(s). 2) What the heck is Matrox thinking with a large HSF unit like that? ATi at least lets you know it takes up two expansion slots. But none-the-less I want both ![]() [Edited because I sucked at spelling and grammer ![]()

The professional GL people are more than willing to dish out that kind of money to save seconds of rendering time on their projects. Still I personally believe that the FireGL is still very overpriced. But that is just me.
As for the Matrox card..... I have very high hopes for that line and expect good figures. Also, its about TIME they made something else ![]()

Crush this nVidia
I would really like to see them a little ole' GeForce or Quadro do what this can. Not talking about Photoshop renders here, the big stuff, Maya, Lightwave. And not just little scenes I am talking about massive compliations.

phreenet, no matter hwo big the scene is, the wildcats still lose in speed. Their memory bandwidth and fill rate is significantly less than ANY gaming card's.
Wildcat III 6210 fill rate: 400.0 M pixels/sec nVidia Ti 4600 fill rate: 4.8 Billion pixels/Sec Wildcat III 6210 triangls/sec: 33 Million nVidia Ti 600 triangs/sec: 86 Million BUT, like i said, nVidia's pixel accuracy is attrocious, and let's not forget 3dlabs insane SuperScene AA
