Default running 2x 56k modems

I'm trying to use two 56k modems at once, my isp supports this. the problem is win2k doesn't seem to like it. as soon as the second one connects it takes over from the first one, the first one just stops doing anything. then if I disconnect the first one and reconnect it, it will take over and the second one will stop doing anything.

any ideas?

It certainly is unusual...

I'd look at the dial up driver. You might have to replace it with something else, something that understands having multiple IP addresses.

I remember having this problem at the office, where the network connection would go on hold, when I dialed out. It was part of the network driver (Novell), and was programmed that way for security reasons.

In this case, I believe that the problem has to do with the dial up adapter only being able to handle one IP address at a time.

I don't have it in front of me right now, but there should be a setting called something like "Dial up with all units" or similar.

I don't actually HAVE 2 modems (or 2 phone lines) so I can't test it, it worked like this when I had ISDN before though.

(If the modems need to dial different numbers for some reason, just check both the modems and configure the numbers individually)

Sorry, fixed the pic. This is XP but I'm almost a 100% sure it's the same in 2k.

you know u could always call the tech support for ur ISP.... lol

if ur still having a problem with that i'll talk to my friend who still works at my old job... a small ISP where i used to live... he'd know in a jiffy what ur problem is

yes, yes i did just use the word 'jiffy' in a normal sentence.... no, dont ask me why or how....
