Default Pumps....

I currently have an Eheim 1250, but for my next project i need something a tad smaller. Can someone please recommend for me a pump with something near to the same GPH(i'd settle for 200gph if i had to.....), and has a smaller footprint? Thanks in advance.

I hate to disagree with Ben, but I absolutely HATE the Via Aqua 1300s. They seem to have very crappy quality on their line (some people get good units, some bad, and a significant portion get crap units). You might want to look at something else. Unfortunately, I can't think of anything smaller off the top of my head, but somebody was talking about a micro-inline pump here a couple of months ago that was supposed to have done well. I believe it was DC powered as well .... Now that I really think about it, the guy that did that beautiful Acrylic WC case used them, I think. You remember who that was, Ben?

Do you mean Stepback?

Here's the pump roundup

Alternatively, I'd suggest a Rio, or maybe even a Danner.

David,
look at the pump roundup for Maxi Jet. You'll find all the info there.
I can't say how it performs against Eheim cos' I never had one (yet), but I'm using MJ1000 for two and a half months now (on 24/7) and I'm more than satisfied with it. The price is not high and the pump is small, quiet one.

Good luck!

I'm thinking of both the one in this thread:
http://forums.procooling.com/vbb/sho...&threadid=3321
and the Maxi-jet. I am assuming that you have some money to spend if you're talking about a chrome plated rad.

i'm using the via aqua1300 and its been 24/7 for almost 3months now and its great. bad thing is because of its small size there is barely no surface area on the pump that takes up heat and it feels really hot. its 370gph.

One of you mill owners should mill up a heatsink for the Via Aqua pump and others.

They have heatsinks for R/C Car motors that go around the body of the motor itself. Make something similar for water pumps or something.

Perhaps a Sicce Idra? It has nearly identicle specs to the 1250, but is about half the size.
