Default Site and Forum changes!

as I am sure you can see, stuff is changing in the forums and on the site. I am working on getting a good deal of vBB integration done on the site.

the Site news, Worklogs, all soon will be tied to the forums. This will give a much more flexible interface for the features of the site to be based off.

As stuff gets working, different topics will appear in the forum. I also am consolidating some of the smaller forums into related topics. While I am doing that, I am also thinking of adding some sub forums to the Liquid cooling area to give a bit more sepperation between the topics. ( for more focused discussions)

And in all this, pH has wrote a quick little editorial that I will have up tonight on the site!

That's excellent! Seperating the different cooling methods is going to help a lot.

It's a little confusing though, where the page titled "Pro/Forums > Pro/Forums" lists all the topics, wether they're sub topics or not. (an indentation might help).

Guess I'll get used to it

Nice, but I'd still go for a more obvious indentation.

Well since it disregards any multiple spaces, its hard to get it to indent, and I cant give it a tab or anything.

If it can't be done, then it can't be done! We'll get used to it, eventually...

If it's HTML (or HTML-like), can't you put:

& n b s p

(take out the spaces between each character, the browser converts it into a space in the post )

a bunch of times for multiple spaces?

Hehe I am at work, and I will have to go and dig through the template files for vBB to see what I can fool it into. I am not to keen on hacking the core templates for the bbs since its pretty hard to find the exact template used for any one screen.

very good work Joe, everything you've done in the last week or so rocks.

one possible suggestion. the news forum that regular users can post in has never got too much attention, now you are going to make it worse by putting it in another level deep. I think a better thing would be to have it back on the first page. not necessarily in the pro/news area, but definately in the index page

Am I smoking heavy crack or was there another similar thread to this one which I posted in this morning???

Anyway I thought it would be smarter if the news comments and worklog comments (and their posts) was available in the forum so we can have the read/unread icon for news posts and worklog posts (oh and lazy bastards like me can start their browser into the forum and not the front page).

I could swear I posted this before...

Oh the crack is getting to me

I posted that in the news post comments section (why don't they show up in the "Latest posts" search?).

Also posts under news comments seem to show up in the Pro/Forum list on the main page.
