I'd go with anything that looks like a PS2 controller made by a major manufacture.
I have a Game Pad and a Game Pad Pro... My Pro recently stopped functioning and I opened it up to find that I wore out a trace on the PCB right in the middle of the Directional Controller... I play hard ![]() I think i'm gonna try for the next gen Game Pad Pro, which may be the Eliminator Game Pad Pro...

That looks GREAT jag_e_fattig...I wonder how hard it is to find one of those.
I agree with you, I would use the dual analog Sony controller above all else if I could. I have a Gravis Gamepad Pro, the one that is identical to the original psx controller, the only problem is it is 4 buttons. The "L" and "R" buttons up top are the same as buttons 1-4. Ok, the "start" and "select" buttons would make it 6, but they aren't much good to program for gaming. If they made an 8 button version of the Gamepad Pro I'd be happy. |

Doing a little research on the Soyo adapter, I found it won't work for WinXP. I use 98se...but I thought I'd share this for others.
I did find this XP friendly version though: Boom PS to USB The site doesn't mention XP, but a user claims it's plug and play. Thanks again...I didn't realize these existed. ![]() |

Nice controller, for the most part. The thing feels ok in my big hands, but it feels like it has the same counter weights my Xterminator had, which were a couple of large ball bearings in the lower part of the grips. I'll have to open it up and have a look/remove them. It's amazing how shaving 8oz can completely change a controller. Balance isn't much of an issue I find...I have a death grip on my controllers anyway. |

Yeah, I just got the joystick today. I want more weight in the front though.
It fits better than my Game Pad Pro, but I don't like the look...and the lack of "Start/Select" buttons...they replaced it with numbers. After I get my new hard drive installed, i'll find out how it plays.

I never really liked the Playstation controllers. When I was younger I was more fond of them but as I got older they were just to small for my hands. I really like the new GC controllers, and for the pc I use my Microsoft Sidewinder GamePad. I bought it 6 years ago and its stil works. The joystick that I got with it though is starting to get a little loose though.
