So, its down to the Maze 3 and the Swiftech

Trying to hurry up and find a distrubutor for a Maze 3 block since DangerDen is known for being back order directly. So I check out a few of their distrubutors, one of them selling the new 1/2 fitting equppied Swifty block. Read a review, both perform the same.

But which one would be less of a pain in the long run...installs, removals, modifcation(?!), and the like. The Swifty cost more by a little, but thats not that much of a problem(I'm spending too much on something I wish I made my own).

FWIW, I hate the way the swifty mounts with the standoffs, they are a pain in the ass. I like blocks that use standard screws that you just slide the block onto and bolt down, a al Maze 3.

Umm...yes?

The above post of nikhsub1 is the type of answer i'm looking for. Cause the few head to head comparos...they perform the same, so its down to price and ergonomics.

I am exactly the opposite; I love the Swiftech blocks mounting. I never found mounting the Mazes especially fun and the Swiftech block is much simpler.

I agree that it isn't ideal if you are going to be swapping among different blocks, but for mounting and remounting the same block (Changing CPUs etc) the Swiftech is much more convenient.

The Maze3 is a good bit cheaper though, right?

Around $7-9 cheaper.

I'd go (Hey!, I did!!

) Maze3:1 so you have the coldplate there for later when a 220watt TEC looks inviting

. the insulation on the TEC Swiftech is prone to breaking, the bolt(steel) freezes to the standoff(ALu) making the standoff come loose and just turn on the spot, (making a regular strip down necasary anyways) tearing the neoprene while at it. also the maze body is much easier to insulate than the swiftech. plus I don't like mixing ALU & Cu.

PS, I heard Swiftech were planning on addressing this problem by using a non~different metal mix for fittings, ie, all steel or all ALu. I don't know when(or if really) they plan to do this though.

This is just my little or no experienced opinion though

, peeple have problems with maze 3 mountings. these can usualy be cured with stronger springs. go for a Cu top if you're not sure about how to care for Lexan

There will be no peliters in this rig. This rig has no real future for peliters. A larger computer may have peliters as the peliter PSU will be able to fit, along with a larger radiator.

So freezing bolts won't be a worry either.

Not that kinda freezing!, some metals have a way of bonding. ALu & Steel do. copper grease can prevent them 'sticking' together. have you never considered using a chiller for the water?, you'd have to lag the block then. what kind of 'modifications' were you thinking of?.

What kinda case you got?, you can fit the (TEC)lot in a midi you know?.a TEC PSU will fit in a CD~ROM bay. it's always good to leave an avenue open regardless.

PS, it's best to say TEC like I do if you can't spell Peltier

I've seen the PSU that fits in a bay(it also cost more than I want...this setup will be less than a $100).

I can fit a Peliter setup in this case, but thats not my plan. I've done a peliter in the past, but don't wanna do it with this system.

Later on I may venture back into peliters as I've got a few rather large radiators laying around...it'll be either in a mid tower with a custom base, or in a larger tower case.

This setup will be the new version of the case in my sig, purely a watercooled setup for overclocking(a little), and quiet...all for going to lans and general computing.

I can spell it, but its been bout a year since I've had to use the word

I never liked TEC cause i've got too many acronymns from electronics in my head, along with acros from automobile knowledge.
