Found an interesting site on determining the level of stress in plastics, (including polycarbonate) by dipping the piece in a liquid that accelerates stress cracking.

I believe toluene is available at the hardware store in gallon jugs. I don't know about n-propanol.

Got anything on reducing the cracks, aside from the methylene chloride (for PC) that I posted?

Google "anneal polycarbonate".
