i just got an ehiem and i've never used them before. is the intake the side one or the top? i want to say its the side, but i really should be sure.

Intake is front and output top (if laying flat on surface). The output is always off the side of the rotor, and the input is always inline with the rotor shaft in centrifugal pumps.
