u got some digi pix?

there are alot of cheap knockoffs from known carbrands. bought a porsche/vw/audi rad once that sucked major a$$. wasn't original. hope u got the real deal copper wafer design instead of the cheap alu fin design...

anyway, happy building, and keep us posted !!!!

if it is second hand, he should be happy getting 15€ for it (i bought 2 HC'z for 25€, and those were real performers). if it is a new one it might cost 30€, but then again it prolly ain't original and isn't worth that 30€ either.

so , if u want some good advice, post some pics from the live radiator here, and then we can judge. if it is the exact same design as the heatercore4u pic + brand new, it is worth the 30€ he is asking. still, try bargain it down some...

g'luck

Actually, I haven't bought it yet, just wanted to know what you had to say about it, size and that kind of thing.
I asked about the copper version, so I'm rather sure thats what I'm getting.
I'll take a good look at it before buying though. =)

It looks the same as the rest of the common heatercores we use, just have the inlet & outlet in different places.

Should work just fine if it will fit in your case.

Thanks

I'll check sweclockers, but I believe the procooling forum is the place to start. =)
Those crazy inlets and outlets might have to go.

Chevette: 6 x 6-1/8 x 2"

Thats about 15,1 x 15,4 x 5 cm if I got those funky units right.

Volvo: 8-5/8 x 7-3/4 x 2"

Thats about 21,7 x 19,5 x 5 cm. It sure sounds a lot doesn't it?

I have the small Antec/Chieftec case, you think that this hc could ever fit inside?
Hmm, I think I'll look around some more... =)

Yep....it's a nice heatercore indeed, quite big though...but for "external mounting" it's really great. I've used one on my Chieftec Midi tower once....worked damn fine

Keeps my water temp at 2 C above ambient, with two 92 mm Panaflos at 7v.

If the Chevette HC fits you might want to look for a Ford or Opel HC instead, they´re alot easier to come by in Sweden.
Opel cores are very similar to the GM cores, only with different location of the fittings.
I rescued this puppy from an Opel Manta:

I estimated the Volvo to be about the size of my ALLSOP mousepad, and I couldn't it that inside my case.
Was thinking about the Toyota Supra, but a small Opel or Ford would do fine.
I can't seem to find Opel on heatercore4u?

I know, frustrating isn´t it?
The way that I understand it is that pretty much all pre ~80´s Opels use the 6 x 6-1/8 x 2 HC (could be wrong though).
I think g.l.amour is using one of those, he probably knows better.
Do a search for "Opel" on the forum, there should be a couple of threads covering the Opel cores from a couple of weeks back.

Your best bet would most likely be to just figure out the dimensions of the HC your looking for, then go to the scrapyard and have a look around.

I might be able to help, some...

I'm lining up the PSU area for a heater core, and the opening is 6" wide by 8" tall. That leaves me with:

(discarding heatercores less than 2" thick)
2-608 (Toyota)
2-607 (Toyota)
2-613 (Toyota)
2-252 (General Motors)

Model Height Width Thickness Inlet Outlet
2-613 7.75 5.625 2 0.75 0.625
2-608 7.875 5.25 2 0.625 0.625
2-607 7.875 5.25 2 0.625 0.625
2-252 7.125 5.625 2 0.75 0.625

(search param.: from 5 to 6, by 7 to 8)

If I give a little play in the width, up to 7 inches, I get:

(All of these are 2 1/2 " thick)
Model Height Width Thickness Inlet Outlet
2-440 7.125 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625
2-244 7.75 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625
2-226 6.5 7.375 2.5
2-297 6.5 7.375 2.5 0.625 0.5
2-85 7.75 6.125 2.5 0.625 0.625
2-213 7.75 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625
2-262 7.125 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625
2-439 7.125 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625
2-323 7.75 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625
2-324 7.75 6.125 2.5 0.75 0.625

(search param.: from 6 to 7, by 7 to 8)

If any of these seem interesting, let me know, and I'll post a list of the corresponding cars (don't ask me for all of them, it's still a manual process for now!).

Thanks a lot bigben2k. You seem to know quite a lot about hc's, so if I went to a scrapyard and didn't find any coppercores on the shelves, do you have a favourite car to demolish? If I ever saw a chevette, I don't even remember what it looked like, so I don't think they are common at all here.
Opel or Ford I could most certainly find, are there any more good non-american hc's? (well, Ford is american, I know)

Thank you g.l.amour, read that post yesterday actually. =)
The titan is too big, but the BM might do it. I'll have to measure my case and see.

I've read that thread too, but thanks anyway. I'll have a look on heatercore4u and then go searching for gold. Let you know when I've found it.
