I have the same problem but in the UK, if anyone knows a good score in/near Dorset, in the Poole Bournemouth area would be bestest ...

PsyKoRealm:

Try at some local scrapyard. My brother bought some cheap copper strips here in Croatia. We also bought some good HS there...

Cheers..

Call some electrical contractors or visit them on a jobsite and ask about getting some bus bar cut-offs. I use 1/4" x 2" ,but it comes in wider sizes.

I used to work for a machine shop, and I can tell you that they dont do alot of copper. but when they do, a good friend of mine gives me all the scraps. As a matter of fact, he gave me 5 peices of bus bar today.

So try and get in good with them, and stop off every so often to check in with them.

Default Welding?

Well I was talking to a friend of mine today and he told me that his dad, who is a welder, uses copper blocks for various purposes. He showed me some of the blocks and they look perfect. He told me he would ask his dad where he got them and get back to me. I'll report back when I hear from him.

It's a bus as in Front Side Bus, it's a main artirial highway for electricity to run down, normal multicore wire would glow white hot or just melt explosivly! . I did'nt know telephone exchanges used it though?...

That probably is solder, though I could'nt imagine trusting that kinda current to a soldered connection!, bolt holes only please!...

PS, the discolouring is just tarnish/oxidisation...

before the new digital system x exchanges they had mechanical exchanges that required lots and lots of power.
