I recently bought an Abit IC7 board together with some watercooling stuff and among them was the DTEK northbridge block. To my dismay, there were no holes to attach the block to. I studied the "wire loops" on the board on how i can attach this block. I came up with something crude and simple but somehow effective. Sorry, i dont know how to post pics here but you can see my installation on this site.......
http://www.pbase.com/plexon2/inbox I have yet to test this setup but the grip of the hooks are solid and doesnt budge at all. My next step would be to reinforce the backside of the mobo where the wireloops are connected. Cheers! |

how did u get any tension on it at all? is the acrylic/poly providing the tension as u screw it down?
i've got something remarkably similar to this on my ic7, only difference is i used cable ties to loop round the bolts that go thru the eyes.. working so far. Although, i also cheated and used AS epoxy to bond the block to the chipset along with a square of TIM sheet to protect the raised components on the chipset from shorting, i've had a board die when a loop came out b4 (old TH7) and i really don't want that to happen again. |

Well, when the nut is tightened, it pushes the block down and at the same time pulls up the plexiglass which is held down by the eyehooks attached to the long screw. I just tighten it by hand coz the block is solidly pressed on the chipset. Im just concerned about the tension on the wireloops coz it might give. Thats why im going to reinforce the backside of the mobo where the loops are soldered.
