Default open blower

so, it seems that a blower is the way to go. What do you guys think of this blower to feed my radiator? Anyone know where to order these things online?

That's a good one, I've looked at it before.

What's nice is that you can undervolt it right down to 7 volts, which should make it run much quieter.

If you google with the p/n, you might find a source.

I'm in an e-mail exchange with www.leakycar.com , who sells automotive blowers, heatercores, and other parts. I'm aiming to make most of the space available, by getting a blower that's up to 8" diameter, and no more than 8 inches thick, which will fit in the top portion of my Chieftec server case.

you know what am I doing for my new water cooling?? Maybe you can get an idea from it

I found an old Hand Dryer. It has a blower inside
I opened it, removed the timer and the heaters and tryed it out. It blew the hell out of me with it's incredible air flow, but it makes some kind of high frequency noise. But I also found a way to control it. In my father's garage I found a fan speed controller, those that usually you find hanging on the walls that control the speed of the roof fans, with 5 speed. On just the smallest, i think it would be enough to cool a radiator and at that speed it is extreemly quite.

The only problem i encountered till now it this, i have to redo the outside shaping to make it fit the radiator, and it is quite difficicult. I still don't know if i will choose to bend some metal sheet or instead some cardboard or something soft.

Nice find!

I'll be rebuilding the blower housing with fiberglass. It's just easier, and I can get the exact shape I want.

ohh ben you gave me a very very good idea, i didn't think of that. My friend makes custom car spoilers using fiberglass, he can afford making a shape for my blower then

I am very interested in seeing this as well, but I can't picture the placement that you guys are talking about. How would you mount this thing?

In my particular case, because I have a 26" tall case with lots of room on the top side, and because my PSUs will be mounted up front, I have an opening in the back (where the PSU cover plate usually sits) which, when removed, gives me a 6" by 8" opening, in which the heatercore will sit. So I still have the remaining space, between the core and the CD-ROM drive, where a blower will fit nicely.

Heck, I'm even going to put an airtrap in there!

nice, that's a lot of room, there bb, your gonna make me wish I'd used my server case for my watersystem.

Balinju, do you have any pictures of that blower? I'm interested to see how it looks. I don't have nearly as much room in my case as ben, and I've noticed that most blowers tend to be pretty big, or not very powerfull.. that one by delta seemed to be pretty flat, and might be able to fit on the front of my case slightly sticking out of the bezel.

i don't have a digital camer, but maybe someday i can post a picture of it

Btw let me remind you that this kind of blower is not 12v but 230vac (i don't know if the place where you live is being distributed with 110vac, but surely you could find 1 rated at 110vac), and believe me, it has a good cfm number.

regarding demension, it is quite big, give me some minutes and i will give you the exact dimensions, just give me enough time to go inside the garage ........ get dimensions and get back here

ok i went to the garage and measured the blower for you.
it is: 23cmx20cm base and 16 cm high. mind you that there is a lot of waisted space so you can fit it in much less. one draw back or advantage, see it as you like, it that it actually has 2 blowers inside one on each side.
