Default why water and not antifreeze

will water rust the radiator and will the hoses dry out and crack over time. and would antifreeze work better than water.. it already looks cool .. or would it not work..

Its both more viscus and has worse thermal properties.

In layman terms:

It's thicker, and it doesn't absorb heat as well.

some parts of the watercooling system may corrode if you used just water, which is why most people also put addatives in to prevent corrosion. antifreeze is one of them.

The qualities antifreeze is used for are it's low freezing temperature, and high boiling tempurature. Your car is dealing with much more extreem temperatures than your computer is. Very cold when trying to start up in the middle of winter, and very hot after driving all day in the blistering summer heat.

antifreeze also helps those folks chilling water, though the viscosity goes up the colder it gets. Methyl alcohol would be better but it's vapors are poison.

Cars don't use all antifreeze. Mix is the key.

Thats right, perfromance users should use a mix of cooling liquids. Dont use straight water or anti-freeze. Water Wetter is also a option. Anti-freeze would be a must if you have a water chiller or something similar. By that time you should be using phase change.
