Thats because someone went and deleted a long post that some claimed had a bunch of good info in and they were mad because they spent a lot of time on it just for the someone to delete the whole thing. Although that someone didn't feel the info in it was going to be read anyway because of the flame throwing contest involved and the other large amounts of crap spewed in it. Non the less that someone ruined it for everyone!

And don't ask who that someone is damn it!

No this policy has been defined for some time on here, it keeps kids from claiming "I didnt post anything like that" and just delete their post. atleast now there is a perm record that someone did post, but the person can still delete everything in the post.

it also stops someone if their account gets hacked or something from being able to just go and axe posts left and right, atleast now it makes the hacker work to remove all the posts

Just a side note :

I've seen a situation more than amusing in the 2CPU forums. One of the moderator had a nice little hobby of editing the user's posts to something more "interesting", causing friction between alot of the users.

A friend of mine along with a few others, caught the act as they made several posts and took several screenshots of those posts, and mailed them to the administrator. Needless to say that moderator got booted. Now wasnt that fun?.

Well here there is a pretty tight security setup. Only a couple people have the ability to edit posts, and only one of them is not currently on staff (but he was before - Brad). I have no fears about one of our guys doing something like that to cause trouble.

Now I have on occasion done some message changes on people who post stupid shit, like out war crap, or spam posts

Well I was the one that deleted a whole thread once (if you havn't figured it out) and took a beating thereafter for a while because of it. Soon after you couldn't delete your own threads or posts. I assumed I was the cause of it being brought to your attention. I would kinda like to be able to close my own threads at least. Got spoiled at amdmb on that one I guess.
