Default Roland Camm 2 CNC machine, is it capable?

I'm looking for people with experience with CNC machines.

I've got access to a Roland Camm2 machine at and 've designed a waterblock using ProDesktop.

You can see pictures of the block here:

http://www.angelfire.com/alt/externalrig/

What I'm wondering is whether or not the Camm2 will be able to handle the materials (copper/acrylic) and the designs.

The fins in the base plate are 2.5mm thick and 2.5mm deep. They are spaced 2mm apart.

Thanks in advance.

Keep in mind your feed rates when working with copper and acrylic AND you MUST have the proper endmills to work with acrylic or you WILL end up breaking them.

Usually two flute standard endmills will work... but you will experience some chipping if the feed rate is too high.

They make endmills specifically designed for acrylics, try and get some for that.

I have machined acrylic, but I use a manual mill, so I can adjust my feed rates by feel.

Hope that helps you out KyuZo.

what size machine is it? some specs maybe?

You want to take 1/2*diameter at MAXIMUM the feed rates. I sure hope you arent planning on pocketing all that out with that tiny end mill, It looks like you will want to re-draw that a little to include toolpaths to make it a little easier to machine.

Is that O-ring groove correct? it has some sort of radious in your drawings

You will definately want to use coolant while machining that, its quite hard on those small end mills to go without. Youll want a really high spindle speeds.

Do you have access to a 5 axis mill or something? I dont see how you are gonna cut that jet thing.

Why not just use lexan?? That may make everything easier.
