Default Gasket Questions

Sorry if these questions seem minute or obvious, I just want to make sure....

I'm designing a waterblock, but I have a few questions on the gasket.

What size gaskets are common? Also, where is a good place to get gaskets?

When milling the top half and bottom half, are each of the pieces milled out with half a circle?

Many thanks.

If you mean gasket material, I usually use some kind of silicone sealant. If you mean "O-Ring" then I believe that the common channel for that is square and you only mill it in one half of the block... there is a formula for figuring all that out somewhere on the forum, I forget where.

If someone else has that handy, post it please.

There are some premade gaskets out there. You could find one close to your needs and design around it. Or better yet, use an O-ring as timelord suggested. I have seen some rubber mats for sale, however they are like 3 bucks a small 6X6 sheet. Not very practical.

You can get deferent types of gasket material at any good auto store ..Thats the rout i would go ...so much easier than milling out a channel for a O ring and as long as your mating surfaces are flat should seal up just as good if not beter
