I picked up this heatercore for $18 USD, give it a try.
![]() http://www.partsamerica.com/PartDeta...pe=524&PTSet=B Dimensions 24cm X 15cm X 5cm Enough 2 fit a Dual 120mm fan ![]() So you think that this will be suitable to support a GPU Pelt, CPU Pelt, and Hydor L30 in the setup? I think so, but do you? Also how would I go about making a shroud? Could acrylic work? I got so much of that stuff. Matt Last edited by RedPhoenix; 11-02-2003 at 05:11 PM. |

That's a beast dude... it should be 'nuff to handle those two blocks. As to a shroud, don't bother, unless you want to use 2x80 with lil shrouds vs 2x120

Hm, no shroud? I was thinking to make it like 1 inch thick, just so it doesnt rest on the heatercore. Would this make any diff or not really?

It might make a bit of a difference - it may eliminate a wee bit of the dead zone due to the fan motor, but other than that, no point really.

Alright, its worth a shot though, Ill see with it on and off, also, should i do 4 120mm fans, 2 on each side, will this make a huge diff or just a lot of unnecisary noise?

It may be worth a shot, but it depends if you want to bother. As to the two fans, i've seen the push/pull effect work, but it's usually by maybe 1-2c. This is dependant on your fans as well - if you use low rpm sunons, the noise increase won't be all too bad. If you use deltas, well.... I'd say start with 2 fans, then add another two if you need em.

The shroud with double fans does more than help with the fan motor dead zone. Consider the fact you also gain air flow through the area of the rad that with bare fans would lie under the fan's frames. And the rads are a inch wider than the fans you wish to use, without a shroud more cooling area is lost there as well.
Plexi shrouds should work just fine and plexi is easy to work with. I'd say do the quad fans only if you're disapointed in the temps you get with just 2. If you do not already have the L30 you might wish to check out the new Swiftech 600 series pump. |

Almost any auto paint will do - just be sure to make it match your colour scheme.

Well, I think im going to go with Eheim 1260, because I have to get all the parts from one place. Dont think my parents will go for the whole, buy everything from seperate places, not to mention they are weary about ordering online anyways especiall with a credit card. So Im going to go for the Eheim 1260, 600 GPH pump, this heatercore those 2 Maze4-1 CPU and GPU in the setup. Lemme search around for paint, so really any would work, any that I shouldnt look at, that will corrode the rad maybe? Also, when I get this rad, if I have to clean it up, what should I use to do that?
Im considering 4 120mm fans, but the ammount of space that it will take up, wow. lets see... thats 100mm not including the shoruds. Last edited by RedPhoenix; 11-04-2003 at 03:56 PM. |

It sound like it'll work but where are you getting 100 cm from? Don't you mean 100 mm?

Looks nice so far, but how are you gonna fit that under the Bezel up front? Or are you just going on a cutting spree...

Looks Niiiiiice So Far. I take it you're envisioning red top, black fins, chrome barbs for that rad? Also, where is it going?

something of that sort... I dont know how I would make the barbs chromed.. or silver without paitning. Could I take a wire brush on a rotory tool and it would make it silver?

Maybe. Just brush or sand it down to bare metal than polish would probably work. Oh - pics 4-6 are all dupes...

Maybe. No point though - it's gonna be obscured by both case and tube. Also, going to dye the water?
Updates are good. |
