I'm just wondering how the Danner pumps compare to the Eheims in terms of noise. I've heard that the Eheims are very quiet, but I prefer the identical inlet/oulet sizes of the Danner pumps. However, I'm worried that the 500gph+ models would be very noisy.
Anyone care to shed some light on this? |

Eheims are dead silent Danner's are not,but I have tried both so here it goes..... The eheim was dead silent But you need to go two modles up to get the same flowrate as a mag drive 2 and it will cost you tripple the price. The magdrive is a little noisey but if you got like 3 case fans they mask the noise. All you need to do is put some foam under the magdrive and it will run silent. I have a magrdive 2, Swiftech MCW462 water block and a hayden676 rad and I run 10*f over ambient with a max load. I'v got three cheapo 80mm fans on my rad pushing air out of case and one fan sucking it in plus one blow hole acting as a passive inlet. my whole setup with fittings and hose cost me like $ 130.00

Gluing the impeller to the magnet may get the Danner to be quieter for you. I haven't gotten around to trying it on mine, because I can only hear my pump when the computer is off.
