Wow, nice deal Ben.
Don't know if it helps you on that side of the pond but I've used RSWWW & TC.co.uk (might help any UKers looking for probes). TC Ltd do a nice free wallchart guide to thermocouple & resistance thermometry which they send out on request too. |

GPIB may be the standard, but working with it every day really brings out my critical side. The cards and cables are expensive, the cables are thick and hard to work with, the transfer rate is slow, the ability to have multiple masters on the bus is missing, the topology is limited to a single bus, the error handling is crufty, and the programming is primitive.
But! GPIB is extremely reliable, is a very stable standard and works well with all the really good instrumentation. Once you know it, you don't have to learn anything more. |

Haha, sweet, I used those in college labs. They're pretty nice units.
I have a few pieces of fluke in my room. I love my Fluke 189. It is the best thing since sliced bread. Wait, no, my Fluke O-scope is!

You can always get a GPIB to USB converter. They're nice too.
http://sine.ni.com/apps/we/nioc.vp?cid=11397&lang=US We have a few. But we use mostly the Keithley 2k's with GPIB pci cards, works great with LabView.

Hey, thanks for all the info guys, I really appreciate this!
Before ya'lls advice, I was just going to get a 488 to 232 converter, then use a Basic script. ![]() |
