Default A computer's ongoing story: Simplicty

Here is my computer, as it was a bit ago.

Yes, I like the look, a lot. I was there when neons and windows and all of that started. I was there when LED fans were HAND MADE for the first time. However I have grown up and that stuff looks....pretty dumb. So now I am sticking with a silver-and-black theme for all my stuff. Soon I will have a black on white graphical LCD, possibly mounted in front of the empty bays. Not sure yet where it is going to go, but all that is left to do on it is build a negative voltage generator.

Here are the stats, and the old cooling:

AMD AthlonXP-Mobile 2400+ @ 2.3 ghz, 1.75 volts (I've had two chips and both have been crappy ones)
1 gig PC2700 @ 166 mhz (async hurts)
Asus A7N8X Deluxe 2.0 (was great back in the day but I am ditching this for a dual board)
LiteOn 52x48x52 painted black
Powercolor Radeon 9800SE @ 9800Pro, stock Pro speed
Lian Li PC-601

Cooling:
Dangerden Maze 4
Single heatercore that Dangerden sells (no ID)
Hydor L20 pump
Inline fill

Coolingwise I now have:
Dtek Spir@l (crappy temps because I lapped it wrong and failed to modify it like I planned)
Double Bonneville heatercore
Danner Mag 3 pump
Still inline

What I plan to do:

* Get a dually board!
* Fix the cooling + get another block!
* Finish the LCD!
* Change the LEDs!

Simplicity is good. So is black-and-chrome. And Duallies. But thenagain, I'm biased.

planned mods:

* replace front LEDs, temp monitor LEDs with white
* either use 4x20 2-bay Crystalfontz LCD (black on blue however) or get graphical black on white LCD finally assembled
* replace fan grates with official Pro/Cooling guards

im getting paid for upgrading a friends computer tonight so thats going towards the block, proc, and ram. im gonna match the 2400+ mobile in there. i already ordered the spir@l (shipping was $11, wtf?). I went to newegg to get the board since i have some spare cash and i can afford to basically loan it to myself but they had no refurbs in stock. since theyre 80 cheaper than the new ones and just dont have cables and crap, im gonna get one the second they get one in. i posted a WTB on 2cpu, well see if anyone will let one go so cheaply.

this is gonna be awesome. my one concern is the board might not fit in my case, or might be a complete bastard to get in my case. right there im thinking of where the barb for my heatercore comes down (look in pics to see). right now it rubs against the RAM which is BAD but it hasnt caused problems.

i know what you mean, my friend has two, one which i bought for him. theyre not bad but i dont like stealthed drives really. then again the paints flaking off the top of that one due to repeat insertion-removal of the bay cover, but that can be touched up..

OH MY GOD IT ****ING ROCKS NOW

what to add...got the LCD...put in my bulgin, it goes on when the SCSI is accessed (kind of useless as i'm taking out the SCSI now)...replaced the power LED...replacing the green temp monitors with blue lights (if possible)...put the window in (and it ****ing rocks)...things here and there.

im getting the procooling fan grates when i get a few extra dollars (soon). not sure what else I can do to it. i need to add a filter to the white LED as it shines out the HD access light and the front grill, i need to give it a tube so it points only ******ds, but ill do that as soon as i find my damn electrical tape (its here SOMEWHERE). the bay cover on the top is my only scratched one but its in there pretty damn tight thanks to the radiator. im thinking about getting a res (although i like my tline just fine) and putting it on the back 80mm fan, since its kind of useless with the grate and all. need to find a nice one, i love the aqua computers ones but theyre 1/4ID

Shows priorities theses days. Make your computer nice and trick and then keep your room thrashed to were your to embarrassed to bring anyone in to show it off. Then again he posted this on an online forum for hundreds to see so maybe no shame...

Honestly though I am not much better, do need to do some house cleaning today...
