It's been a while since I've built a system from scratch. My last system, which I just retired as a small server, was a dual P2 450MHz box. I've been using it for the past six years and I felt it was time for an upgrade. I wanted to build something that would really stand out and this is what I came up with.
I use this new system for everything - from email to high-end gaming and from CAD work & 3D-modeling to music & DVD editing. The really cool thing about the system is that since I am running Win2k3 Server Standard Edition (in workstation mode), the two HT Xeon processors work as four logical processors. ![]() It was a lot of fun to build and I am very happy with the way it turned out. System Tyan Thunder i7505 (S2665UANF) (2) 3.06 GHz Intel Xeon Processors (1MB L3 Cache) (4) 512MB Kingston DDR-266 ECC SDRAM (2) 36GB Seagate Ultra320 15k HDs (2) 73GB Seagate Ultra320 15k HDs ATI Radeon 9800 XT (soon to be x800 XT) Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS Platinum Enermax 550W Power Supply (EG6519-VE FM-24P) Mountain Mods U2-UFO Original Black Case Sony SDM-P232W/B 23” LCD (1920x1200) Cooling (2) Black Ice Xtreme LE Chrome 120mm Radiators (2) Swiftech MCW5002 CPU Water Blocks (5) FrozenCPU 120mm Aluminum Fans (4) FrozenCPU 80mm Aluminum Fans Swiftech MCP600 12v Water Pump (160 GPH) FrozenCPU Tundra Dual 3.5” Bay Reservoir Future Additions ATI Radeon x800 XT (as soon as it’s available) Plextor PX-712A DVD Burner Enermax Fan Controller Crystalfontz 634 Drive Bay LCD Kit ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Why are you running the blocks in parrallel? It's hurting your temps.

This is my system statistics from MBM 5 while the system was running at full load (@stake LC4) for about 2.5 hours, and this is what the system stats look like at idle. Please let me know where my temps are hurting. Last edited by fiscap; 05-30-2004 at 01:23 PM. |

Well, you are splitting the flow in two. As we know heat transfer increases with higher flow. while running is series would slow down overall flow, it would increase flow through the cpu blocks which is where you need it.
Your temps are pretty good though already. |

I agree with that...we spend so much time on our computers these days, why not have a really snappy one?

Yeah its true I used to waste all my $$$ on my 1.8Turbo beetle, but its not really worth it if you think of it, with those crappy roads here in Boston. Now I mod my PC with the $$ I got and having much more fun staying home moding! I will absolutely finish my car after I graduate, when I am heading back home. Plus I am making more use of the money that is spent on the PC than moding the car while it only sitting there in the garage.
By the way Fiscap nice setup ![]() Ali |

![]() I do plan on replacing it eventually since it has a tendency to kink in this warm weather - maybe if I had a block for the Northbridge or video card it’ll be an opportune time. |
