AMD 64 newcastle and 6800 GT card are calling to the overclocking gods. But I cannot stand the noise.
I want a <25db setup.
iwaki MD R20 pump -> 2 bonneville cores in parallel->tdx->mc50 ->iwaki
or
D4 pump->bonneville core->d4 -> bonneville core->tdx->mc50->pump
First, NO ALUMINUM. Since the image of a corroded *ANODIZED* block has been burned into my retina, i do not want to mix metals. (see
http://www.ocforums.com/showthread.php?t=325310)
Second, use 2 large heater cores because they will be cooled by SLOW spinning panaflos. The data I have seen indicates that the rate limiting step to cooling in many setups is getting enough air through the rad. By increasing the rad surface area , I am hoping to slow down the fans and still achieve awesome cooling. Plus each booneville core can dissipate >400Watts. I could go to black ice extreme pro II but that's more expensive without benefit, no?
Need enough pressure for the tdx and mc50 so an iwaki or 2 D4 pumps used. I think the iwaki will be quieter but the 2 D4 pumps are 12v and also offer redundancy, providing some cooling when one of the pumps fail. Since the pump is essentially watercooled, maybe i can bury each one in acoustifoam. I was also thinking of putting the 2 D4s in between the cores, that way the very hot water from the mc50 coming from the 6800 woul be cooled a bit before getting to the pumps.
What think ye?
