Default New(?) cooling fluid

I just saw this (new?) PrimoChill Ice - Clear. This fluid is claiming to be better than it's competition. The only other fluid that has all the same properties is Fluid-XP. The DD MCT fluid is toxic and supposedly smells. After reading the sales blurb it sounds like it doesn't have the cloudy look of Fluid-XP. Anybody have the low-down on this stuff?

Bah more snake oil. If you are afraid of leaks, don't water cool. I've yet to see anything non toxic with better thermal properties than water.

what's the big deal about non-toxic? aren't most watercooling kits in a closed loop in a closed case?

non-toxic, as in non-deadly (ie, mercury is bad for you)

Most of us have at least a certain amount of toxicity in our loops from anti-freeze.

Thank you Etacovda, that is exactly what I was referring to. Inevitably there is always one joker that preaches how great mercury would be.

I read a review on thi stoday and it concluded that it is a few degrees higher than water/anti, and it is NOT 100% non-conductive. So I ask, what is the point of this stuff then?

100% non conductive! three (3) snakes eat bacterial growth! Snake oil naturally lubricates parts and reduces corrosion to a near zero amount!111

I found a review of the PrimoChill Ice here

Apparantly it's conductive snake oil.

Don't know about oil, however you can get spirits with snakes in them. I reckon its vietnamese, and I've heard that a bottle of the stuff a day should be the key to a good health.. I however, have my doubts.

I agree, sort of. I work my barbs to make sure that they won't leak, but a little insurance isn't a bad thing. Besides, I understand that the jury is still out on whether or not PC Ice is REALLY non-conductive.

ok...there is NO such thing as nonconductive anything. EVERYTHING will conduct electricity if you put enough voltage through it. Try playing with tasers, tesla coils or other thinks that operate in the 10kV+ range. You quickly learn that all rubbers arent equal, you have alot less brain cells, and lots of burn marks on your fingers, not that I would know.

Exactly right, but we aren' talking about voltages high enough to turn anything into a conductor. The best we can hope for is something less than completely conductive, which has been good enough in my experience.
