AMD 64 @2,6 GHz 1,55 Vcore, to high temps as for a WC?

Hi !

Im running a Venice core 260x10, with 1,55 Vcore voltage. My board (DFI NF4 ultra LAnparty) reports such temps:

Idle ~30C
Stress ~40C

Isn't it too much as for a watercooled setup?

Waterblock is polish X2P, pics here:

Radiator: DD Heater core, 1x120 mm Noiseblocker SX2, running @5 V
Pump: Hydor L20

What is your ambient temp, do you run your case open, or how is the airflow in it ?
If your ambient is around 20°C these temps sound good enough.

OMFG

you're right - its one of the first things i should write - ambient temp is about 21-22 C, case is closed.

All WC pieces inside.

Yes these are very fair temps.
But what is more important - is your system stable, and are you satisfied with your overclocking, and what about the overall noise ? Really once you've seen your probes report temps under 40°C you dont really have to worry about temperatures...

i know when i had AThlon XP 1700+@2500 Mhz 2,2V i had 55C on CPU :]

But it was running stable and silent - and that's what matters :]

I just wondered if these arent too high

Well for lack of any decent measurement equipment i'm quite satisfied when i dont hear my system while sitting in my chair, when i can feel hot air exiting from the rad, and when i can get pretty decent OC from my hardware
So yeah 40°C is nothing if you cant push your CPU further it means you've hit a wall anyway.
FYI I have racked servers that run 24/24 between 55°C and 60°C... and they run fine !

For a 1.55vcore those temps are not bad at all.
Have you tried lowering to 1.5v?

Yes, lower could be better, running 1.5v San Diego at 2930 38C (Speedfan) folding.
I have found overclocking various A64's that they reach a point where extra voltage increases temps a "lot" without improving the overclock. "Lot" meaning 2-3x the increases from previous voltage jumps.
As noted before, matching temps across platforms cannot be exact (not even the same board in some cases) even running the same load apps, but 40 is not out of line with that voltage.
