There are some sweet looking blocks for Socket A, like the OCWC polyblocks, but will it be possible to adapt them to fit on other socket designs in the future? I only bring this up because of the dimensions of the polyblocks and other socket A blocks. They are 3-inches wide, and extend over the edges of the socket, making it almost impossible to fasten them using the ears on the socket. You are forced to use the 4 mounting holes, which are standard on socket A boards, but who knows if they'll be standard on boards in the future?
Can anyone see a way that a polyblock could be adapted to fit on a board that doesn't have mounting holes around the socket? And yes, I realize that this may be a moot point, because socket A could be around for a long time, but I'd still like to contemplate this possibility ![]() |

Yeah, they are part of the new ATX std. I'm trying to find the URL of the official spec sheet I found.

I didn't mean to sound like a Jerk But the holes are now the standerd and I think they are also on the WTX form factor. Aslo Ith silver polyblocks were tested and TIED the copper water blocks from Danger Den. In my Opinion Your wasting your money on Silver. Copper absorbs heat at a slightly slower rate than silver but releases it much more qiuckly. Here's an example. I did this by the way. Put two small bars in the oven one copper one silver. heat to 300* pull out, put a temp probe on them and watch as the copper cools down faster! There's a web page that explaines this I'll post it when I find it again. Copper absobs slower but dissipates quicker. I would buy the Danger Den Maze2 pr the Swiftech MCW 462. I have a 462 and my Duron 750@1000(105x9.5, 1.8v) after 3 hours on Prime 95 Hit a max temp of 95*. I havn't even tried to push my CPU faster.....yet.

I don't think I heard anyone ask for waterblock recommendations... j/k
![]() By the time something comes to replace what we're using now, there will be better waterblocks anyways... -Kev
