Default Poss' to make evapcooler from old fridge?freezer?...

Is it possible?. if so is it hard?. it would require de& regassing yes?. I know someone who worked as a 'repairer' for pub coolers/fridge/freezers and is quite clued up on all things evaperative.
but I've not seen him in a while, I'd like to know whether I'm wasting my time thinking about this before I ask for his help...

Are all the components you'd need available in a freezer/fridg?. I'd imagine the CPU~'block' would have to be made.
Has anyone done this?.
Are fridge/freezer condensors too large?...

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but I'd like to know how(if!!) feasable this is...

You're talking about both phase-change and evaporative cooling.

You'll have to describe more accurately what's on your mind.

i don't have a clue how feasible it is or how to do it, but i did read once that the condenser from a fridge isn't very good. i'm sure we've all noticed that sometimes the fridge hums and sometimes it doesn't. when you try to cool a computer with that it has to run constantly to keep cooling which the condenser or whatever isn't meant to do, and will likely burn out quickly. but, i'm sure it is possible, just expensive and LOTS of DIY, research and time required... i'd love to see some guy do it.

This has been done MANY times before. Take a look at some of the links in the ProCooling article on types of cooling. There is a subsection on phase change cooling with much information.

Look here for more details.

Thanx!
I meant Phase change!, but seeing as phase change involves the coolant evapourating I got confused .so no, I'm not after making a bong outof a fridge ...

Most of the components for phase change are present in a fridge I'd think. the CPU block would have to be made. I'm sure the tubing could be recycled from fridge.

Yeah, I don't know if a fridge condenser would 'cut the mustard' a freezer one maybe,...

The link was for a water chiller, I'm wondering if it could be made into a phasechange @ the CPU block type cooler. with the condensor incase. like a vapochill. could a freezer be mutated into the parts required?. wondering whether you'd need a 'beefy' condensor/compressor(?same thing?) for the CPU heatload, or whether a small fridge would be up to it?...

I should really look into the technology I spose' but I'd like to know whether it's feasable first...

sorry i know the thread is long but around page 30 i think you will see my posts.and i always make units like a vapochill .direct die cooled.chilling is great but i specialize in direct die cooling with a block on the cpu.on page 40 you can see some of my system
