Hmm.. looks quite interesting!
But we'll have to see if it will be commercially available, and at what price. From the description, it doesn't sound too cheap ![]() |

there are many things that are more conductive then copper... but they are just very expenisve. I dont know if any of you have seen that carbon fiber foam type stuff, take a blow torch to it for an hour then take it off and you can pick up without worry

yeah heard about that carbon fibre foam, it could maybe be used for building radiators out of, not entierly thoguh, since it isnt water proof.
but the problem with it is that its mainly AIR. it cant be used to do anything with. its too damn weak.

It's intended purpose is a TIM where two surfaces mate. One interesting description of a use is "flip chip to lid". Could that be something like the TIM used in the IHS on p4's and future AMD processors?

I saw an article somewhere where a dude made a heatsink out of(or with rather) that fibre stuff, can't remember if it was air or H20, I think it was H20. he just packed it in a hollow block I think... It did'nt work whatever
![]() Anyone else remember that, better than me I hope ![]() |

i cant believe crystals are like 5x as conductive as copper....

SOmeone looked into making a heatsink from the stuff sometime ago. They wanted to basically just bundle a ton of the fibers then let them spread out at the top. Didn't work too well.
The problem with this is that unless all the fibers are aligned conductivity sucks. Its not like copper where it just conducts well. |
