Just curious - how much did it cost to ship one to the US? I really like the look of it, but I fear shipping one to Canada may cost more than the block itself (I'm assuming shipping to Canada will be very similar cost to shipping to US). What you really need is a north-american distributor

Default Update

I made this mounting block when I started working on silver block, it now much easier to mill because I don't have to remount block and align it each time I change directiton, I do that on vise which is 360° turnable.

And here's rough finish of silver block, it finished btw. but I'm again need to borrow the cam to photo the finished block

Here goes :

I won't have a chance to test it, because I'm giving it away in few minutes, but my version will be made soon.

Silver is great to machine , realy much nicer then copper, the cut off brakes, and not stick to the tool. Only thing you have to do is collect all the remains

heh
I started with 10 oz Troy (311gm) and wound up with exactly half
couldn't save a bit as it was all EDM

no real biggie, silver is not THAT expensive -> compared to the 15X cost of machining !

Thanks for that, I rarely visit ocau. I'm not even gonna comment that, he could at least said it to me directly if he had problem with my design, but that's just childish...

Archicad, why is that every time I took pictures on my mouse pad, it takes all the attention (like before with my older pad with girl sitting on a toilete) those pads were given away on computer show, I don't use archicad
To second q. no, it's just one top.

Dammit - every time I read the updates to this thread, I want one of these even more. Expect my order as soon as I can decide if I want to get a TBred-B/A7N8X combo now, a Barton/A7N8X combo soon, or if I can convince myself to wait till September for a Athlon64/something. Currently poor Barton reviews are making me lean towards the TBred-B around 2000+ OC'd to hopefully 2600ish with one of those blocks, but I'm really interested in seeing what people can do when the Barton 2500+ hits the shelves.

Couple of questions about the barbs you are using.

1. What material. Stainless steel?
2. THey don't appear to have the typical hexagon profile to allow tightening. Did you buy them like this or turn them to this finish. If so, how and how did you tighten them.
3. How much did they cost and where from.

Yes the barbs are steinless steel, I actualy couldn't find any brass barbs here so I finaly find those they were quite expensive 2,86 euros/piece. But for me the look great so I go with them.
I tighten them with wrench and a piece of rubber so I wouldn't scratch them.
And I bought them here in Slovenia of course.

Nice block man... But all I have to say is that; people with CNC/Mill access shouldn't be allowed to post pics and RUIN any hopes for us DIY'ers whom could only hope to EMULATE a mill with a sorry a$$ drill press ARGH!

Just curious, would a 10mm ID be overkill ?
