I thought it was particularly appropriate, given how often we ask people to simply Google...
Google just released their toolbar, rev 2.0. Available here: http://toolbar.google.com/ (Or go to http://www.google.com , then select "Services & Tools"). It also acts as a pop up blocker. And it's free! Requires Windows 95 or higher, MS IE 5.0 (5.5 for the pop up blocker) or higher. Tip: disable "PageRank" for privacy. |

I agree 100%. It's a great add on and very worth while. The highlighting feature alone is worth it.

.... unless you already use Opera , which has all that and a lot more for a long time.

You must use a different windows than mine .
All things equal , IE crashes way more than Opera, and is more unstable. And of course , it's has constant securty problems. Which Opera doesnt have. The speed alone , and the feature it brings (and it a 3mb program) pays to have it. But the 7.xx are having issues, the 6.5 is much better.

Try Mozilla Firebird. Popup blocker, non spyware Google bar, tabs, gestures, kitchen sink ... I've grown to hate IE so much after realizing the benefits of tabs and gestures, and with the efficiency of Firebird I've even canned Opera (which eats memory like there's no tomorrow and is relatively crash-prone in my experience).

Don't get me wrong: my wife loves the Google bar, but that's just because she doesn't like tabbed browsing either. As someone that likes having multiple pages/sites/topics open in a browser at once, I can't live without it. I can see, though, from observing her and her habits why some people wouldn't like it.
Even so, the only advantage I see over Firebird in IE is the speed of opening. Nearly every plugin (including this) can be used in Firebird as well, and it actually renders the page more accurately most of the time (especially when sending the page to the printer: IE is a piece of crap in this area). I guess it's just personal preference when it all comes down to it, though. IE is more tightly integrated and that gives some advantages, but I'd give up those few things to support the people that are trying to make things better for computer users rather than those that are looking to enslave us.
