I COULD get 700 machines to do folding easy, but I wont cause its just too much of a risk for something going wrong and screwing up too much of my works infrastructure

50 will more than likely be the tops for a lil bit.

That means one of the files for your buffered generations is corrupt. From a DOS box/console change to your folding directory and run
Code:
foldtajlite -purgeuploadlist 1
to dump the bad file. Then restart the client. You may need to do the purging several times before it gets to a files that it likes.

Good luck.

if 50 machines are stable...
I say go for the full 700 machines...
why aim for AMDMB when first place is optainable

That's the spirit! Unfortuanatly you would need about 7,000 top of the line comps to even compete with #1 or #2. ProCooling has about 150 million points and Free-DC has about 1.5 BILLION points. Maybe shoot for 3rd.

Wish they had some kind of motivational spirit at amdmb like they used to. I have got no where so far trying to get people to join. I will give it till the end of the weekend, if nothing substantial happens you might get a 15-16million point boost Monday. Hopefully Joe and crew will continue their rampage though if I do return.

no if you return I am shutting it all down

heheh j/k now that I got the scripts wrote once we pass AMDMB I will keep a batch running nightly but wont be on all 50 machines ( cause if I get ONE phone call of an issue its all over for any of these and I get my hands slapped nicely. )

Seriously. #1 put out 317,115,590 points in the last week. ProCooling put out 50,646,422 points in the last week.

It is interesting however that the last week points are 1/3 of the total points for procooling!

If I REALLY wanted to, I could probably call in a few favors from people on the academic side and get the folding client installed in some labs around campus. I bet we have over 5000 PCs on campus, but I'd have a hard time convincing most of the people that admin them that they should be folding for some extreme cooling/OC'ing web-site team they've never heard of before. Though sometimes I wonder if I could convince my boss that folding is a worthwile use of resources and create a new team how well we'd do.

Back in the real world - my scripts are a bit more work than yours Joe - I have to manually install them on each machine and manually start them every time I want them to run (I have them just setup to run for X hours and quit) - but the trial worked good. I pushed them out to a total of 5 machines now (10 CPU's between 2.4 and 3.06Ghz - yes they are all dual-CPU machines) and if I'm bored tomorrow I'll see what I can setup for the weekend.

Congratz Joe for taking over the lead. There is no way I could ever be a match to your machines! I may add a 3.2GHz to my array of 'personal' machines, not that that will make much of a difference though. So, who is next to overtake me

OK, here's another question:

Warever i do, hte foldtrajlite, if not run in service mode, always has a dos window poping up.

Well i want it to run with no window whatsoever.

How can i do that? without it being a service?

Why not a service? works great and you can install/remove it completely form commandline.

Also
we are #16 Just smoked PGRI... and moving up, by morning we should have a couple mil lead on them.

If not run as a service, will always run in a DOS window, however you can have it start minimized, so it will not be so obvious. To do this you have to create a PIF file, which are automatically created when you create a shortcut.

A) Right click on foldit.bat, and create a shortcut.
B) Right click on newly created shortcut, properties, select run minimized.

Now, whenever you want to start the program, double click on the shortcut.

Note: should always run "foldit.bat" as it performs some tasks before launching the program

Hope it helps.

BTW, the new protein has taken its toll on the heavy hitters, most of them are now way below 6 million per day. Only a handful (about ten or so) including ProCooling are in red crunching over 6 mill per day!!! way to go!!

Just a thought but I think your production drops dramatically if you reset your computer.

I transferred my internet server to a another case with better cooling as the heat being given out by the computer was getting ridiculous and I think it was seriously in danger of melting things. So the machine was off the folding for about 2 hours whilst I was playing around with it (I think... I was watching a film at the time and doing things slowly), but my production has dropped drastically, more so than the two hour gap could accommodate.

I have added my other machine back into the work and both are running 24/7 but my production is nothing like it was when my little server was running 24/7 for about three months solid.

So does the time spent folding add into the mix, i.e. is a machine more efficient when it has been folding for a long period of time without being powered down?

Good point soon though… if I can get hold of a good TB “B” core then I’ll be able to get three machines folding 24/7 at an average of 1500mhz .

yes it does get better over time, I have seen that in every night I have run many machines.

Also... we are pecking away at #15 and should overcome them tonight... as predicted we are now many million ahead of PGRI.

Looks like it'll be close as far as passing amdmb within a month goes. I guess a full weekend of your folding battalion will help a lot though Joe

I need to see if I can talk KnightElite and his buddies into switching from Seti to DF for our team. He has a few of the university labs at work now...

well with the current rate nightly and full weekend runs, I think the target is way above AMDMB now... I am thinking we can squeek into the top 5 - 7 before too long.

with KE that would rock even more!
