Did decent. Hovered around 15C over water temp. I think a Copper version would do a lot better though. Even 5C better. Then with a center inlet maybe better yet. I need to get some Copper and good endmills!

my new block ends up really nice, but when i did some flatning the X-feed got jammed...dunno what it is...I hope it isn't something thats broken...I hate this life...

Looking good.

Polish it up lots (on the visible sides) and give it a clear coat, and lap the base and it'll be beautiful.

I've now done a pretty rough lapp.

But it ended up quite well:

What shall I use to polish the top of the block?
Some carpolish maybe?

Lap the base, do not polish it. To polish the rest, lap it as much as possible, then whip out a bench grinder with a buffing wheel or a drill with a buffing wheel and use some jewelers rouge. I would suggest white rouge up, nothing less if the surface is lapped well on the top and sides, just remember not to polish the bottom.

My block in my avatar was polished using this method.

If you havent got the copper that smooth form sanding, use some cutting compound (lots of brands for cars etc.) and then move onto steel wool and then the jewlers rouge.

One thing I didn't think of was that the block was 60X60mm. And to make things simple a 50X50 block is the way to go if you want to cool your CPU.

Hey Chrion, that mill you have is awesome, the quality of the finish U leave in the base after planning looks so smooth...

I bet that you can’t feel any irregularity on it with your finger.

In that case you don’t need lapping at all, that’s for uneven surfaces only. You could just go to the polishing stage if U want a mirror like finish. I personally love that patterned shine!

No I dont think I need to lap , but I think the lines the mill put on the block sucks :P Its not pretty at all.
Its pretty cool that the surface is more plan by just the mill that if you lap it with a 600 paper
