Bumping this to get people onboard for our new DC project, Folding@Home. Is everybody waiting until Distributed Folding is over before switching to F@H or do the majority of us not want to do F@H? I was under the assumption that everybody wanted F@H vs. SETI so I went ahead and created everything we need. Give me your thoughts

There.... I now have all my machines swapped over to F@H besides my A64. I'll get that up and folding next week. Im waiting for my new motherboard and Antec Aria to be delivered from Newegg; thats where my current gaming rig is being transferred to. Hope the 300 watt PS is enough for my X800 Pro

Man, have you checked the stats page... you are gaining on me fast, though I am completing work units faster than you. Damn F@H and their scoring scheme

I believe you will take the #1 position soon, that is until Arcturius gets his ungodly amount of xeons folding.

How can this be? I only have 4 PCs folding:

P-M 1.7 (intermittantly)
P4 2.6
Barton @2200MHz
1600+ AXP

The way that F@H does it's scoring system is like this:

They take whatever the current protein is and fold it on a 2GHz P4; the amount of time it takes to do an entire WU on this machine is the basis for judging points on all other work units recieved. I believe the lowest amount of points you can get for a work unit is 20 If your machine finishes the work unit faster than their base machine (The 2GHz P4) than you get more points accordingly. I would suspect that your P4 2.6 and P-M 1.7 (meg of cache?) are creating the majority of your points. I am not getting many points because I have a lot of machines folding, but they are all shitty. I.E. 5x Celeron 500's in 1U rackmount chassis's, PIII 933, PIII 733, etc.

I am not 100% certain that is the way it works, more like pretty sure

Let's see how well a HT Xeon 2.66 does with 2x clients...
I'll move the rest of my machines over when df hits target, or one-by-one if I find any that aren't actually folding for df.

Nightfall: you have another Celeron 500 back on df

What is going on? How can I be in third place with only two machines folding (P4 2.5@2.9 & Celeron 600@900)? Are that many people waiting for DF to end?

I did...and I realize this. However you are still kicking some butt which is good. My main question has to do with why we do not have more Folders/Computers. How many of you are waiting for DF to end, and will you join F@H?

I know I'll be switching when DF ends (which will be 10/1, since we should hit the production goal 3-4 days before that).

3rd place will be much harder to maintain after that. (see sig)

No complaints about loosing third place...supprised to be there anyway.
I'll have to try and add a few machines at work.

I would have to agree, we need more people folding. How do we go about that though, any ideas? How about we start a thread on the [H] Forums to lure them into folding for ProCooling

I think that might start an interforum conflict of sorts, seeing as how [H]ardOCP is at #2 in the rankings behind Overclockers Australia. It might pay to start recruiting from some of the smaller teams like Silent PC Review and places like that.

Inter-Forum conflict... isn't that what ProCooling is all about?

We could even change our logo to [P]roCooling
