Default What would YOU like to see in a watercooling case?

Here's the deal guys...

I'm about to get this case, and move the system in my sig into it.

I have a whitewater, Via1300, and 2-342 heatercore.

Note that this is not a "omg I am a noob teach me how to watercool" thread.

This is a chance for you to challenge me, to challenge me to make something happen you have only dreamed of so far.

I am open to ANY and ALL suggestions.

Note that the pictures below are not of my system, just pictures I have gathered to give you guys an idea of what the case is like.

I've always wanted a computer case with a working beer tap sticking out of it. The cold beer could ccol the CPU as well as provide much needed refreshment!

Okay, only one food related idea...needs a spare cdrom with tray modded and reinforced to function as an effective cupholder. Bonus points if it's one of those two-tiered thingies that can hold either a mug or a soft drink cup securely. Extra bonus points if you've got some tiny message or other means of lampooning people who are about to make fun of you for using a cdrom as a cupholder.

Regarding the electronics, how about cramming in two motherboards? Take a nice old Pentium II board, a soundblaster AWE 64 ISA card, and use Synergy (check sourceforge) to run it with one keyboard/mouse like a regular dual monitor setup. Now you can play all those old games like Ultima and Tyrian with your main box!

Regarding the cooling, a chiller setup is always spiffy. I'd love to see a custom made chiller block using a bunch of tecs run at low voltage for efficiency. Cool 'em with a separate loop and heatercore, and run your (two! ) cpus at below ambient at load.

I've always thought it would be fun to replace the springs in a floppy drive to make it a floppy disk launcher. Preferably of sufficient strength to break the disk upon impact.

Oh, and absolutely silent.

saw a custom case with 7 ITX boards....

ideas:
put a aquarium in the top, with all clear panels around it
put a small fridge in the top for beer etc.
mount a series for 5" LCDs around the top for a Techno look
make that cup holder a TEC cooled unit to keep the beer proper
put the phase change in the top
fill the top with rad's and quiet blowers

It helps to define a theme. Green is a start.

I've seen lots of side windows, but what I've yet to see is a more creative way to do it. How about multiple round holes, of different sizes, to highlight different areas of the insides?

Are you into CCFLs? Add a couple of round, green CCFLs around those holes, or slip a couple of green (or red for contrast) LEDs into the window material.

Are you into modifying the front cover? Would you consider using fiberglass, or maybe some kind of putty?

In response to the idea about using different size holes to form a window, you could use SpaceShipOne as a reference.

Sorry for the large pic size, but that was the image I was trying to convey.

As for features/looks...

Kitbashing to form a sort of "techno-organic" front panel, maybe having water tubes come out of the case for a second, then zoom back in.

Making a lifelike case here. Something you would see in a sci-fi movie...can't really show you what I'm saying...

I believe that there's some sort of glass out there that responds to electricity by turning clear...not sure of name or price...but it'd be cool to be able to "switch" your window on or off.

ACtually, you can recycle an old laptop lcd screen to do that, but I'm not sure how involved it would be.

Glad you like the idea greenman.
I'm farily sure they might be pretty expensiwe....but you should only need 1 pane of it.
If you do go through with it...all I ask for is a shameless plug for the idea if possible.

Bigben2k: Yes. and it would only be a matter of finding a screen big enough.

And make it chilled to keep cold drinks cold or warm to keep warm drinks warm! Double TEC system? Do it before Dell patents it!

OK, how 'bout going retro? I've thought about adding a pair of those bubble-tubes that you see on old juke boxes. Would be a cool addition to a watercooled rig.

Else one of those slow motion wave machines (like you see at the mall) in place of a standard clear window. Googled it but could not find what I was looking for. You know, one of those clear boxes that slowly tips back and forth and looks like big waves.

Everything wireless except of course the monitor (unless that can be done to?).

That's my idea of an ideal computer. Anyway good luck with whatever direction you go.

noise, size, performance, pick any two

I want noise and performance

yes, what you said is a challenge, but not my goals

I am not putting bling junk in there, you will see
