Quantum m4100 does't accept to reset

I just received an old M4100 which works fine, but was own by another company. I bought it in Germany and I'm french, so i would like to reset all

1° To get a new IP adress for my LAN
2° To get a new pass (i do not know the old one as far as it was an auction for a dead firm)
3° To change the OS

I tried to reset it by pressing the reset button+power on
The leds blinked
The "system" one was blinking + disk 1 and then==>Power Off automaticly

So i really do not know how to manage that.

Do you have an idea to help me please ? WOuld be great!!!

Server N° 562275
V° 3.4.772
hardware 2.2.1
Bios 2.4.437

I'm french, so you can answer me in french or in english.

Thank you for your help. I tried a lot of thinks, for instance replacing the battery wiating 10 mn to do it. it worked, but i've seen the donmain name was not workgroup but fack. I tried to change it (for a few minutes i had access to the nas) and trying to put an os4 firm.

Nowa again, the "black hole" i do not know why, but will very happy to put the nas to a standard configuration.

Best regards for all of you

The reset should be like all of the Snap servers (1000,1100,2000,2200).
Press and hold the reset button while powering up the unit.
Press the reset button 4 times.
The disk light should blink 4 times.
if not push the reset button to correct.
If correct 4 blinks
Press and hold the reset button till the system light and disk light goes out.
release the reset button
The unit should reset all network settings and the Admin Password.
Wait at least 2 minutes.
Then use Assist to do the initial setup.

Good luck

David

Thank you for your help.

Unfortunaltly, as i mentionned before, this procedure does't work. When I try to do that, disk 1 blink, blink 2 blink and...power off. I do not understand why. It seems so simple to reset the unit, but not for me

I begin to be completly mad.

I do not know haw, but I succeed (for one time) to see my snap. So I succeed to put it to 4.855 version.

After that, i have always problem

The snap is not seen
The ip is not responding
The ip is already taken by another server
The langage is the wrong one

etc...etc...

I really do not know how to handle a total reset of the machine, i.e as if it was a new one.

I try to format the raif, not possible
I tried to dismount the rais, not possible "logicaly"

well, if somebody has the patience to help me...Well i wil be very happy. But I know it"s not very easy.

I'm sure i do wrong things, but i'm realy desesparate

Have a nice w.e

best regards

Philippe

Suite of my experience

After 2 nights on my server the miracle is here. I succeed to reset it (but not with the hardware, which seems to be impossible), using another PC. I suppose that XP, in certain configuration may alter the access on a lan. I did not resolved why.

Nevertheless, my snap 4100 was responding to this pc ans i force it to go back to factory defaults and succeed to put the OS v° 4.8xx. After that, i reinit all disks and format them and tried to configure a raid 5 "large".

But, the format of the raid5 is not good, i suppose due to a bad disk.

Could you please confirm it to me and tell me if I can put a 60Gb disk to chang ethe "1000" unit identical to the other one or just one i can find (the 4 installed are quantum fireball plus).

You will find attached the image of the format test

Thank you for your help.

Philippe

Joe - Can you move it to the Snap Server Sub Forum?

Cheers

This post is a little old, and I don't know if anyone has answered your question yet, so here it goes. Your replacement hard drive doesn't have to be exactly the same as the other three in your machine, it just needs to be within 3% of the capacity of the other drives. In other words, you can replace the 60GB quantum drive with a 60GB western digital, but you CAN'T replace it with a 100GB drive...it has to be within 3% of the capacity of your other drives. Hope this helps!
