I am going to be getting a new PSU for my system, and am looking for a recommendation. (preferably a PSU where I can adjust the voltage rails with either a Mod, or by default).
System: P4, 2.8c 1GB Ram 2 120GB SATA HD DVD+RW Removable HD (IDE, either 45 ro 80GB) Watercooled (custom #Rotor blocks, mcp600) Want to be able to start really pushing an overclock, but am going to need more juice than my basic (CHEAP) PSU. --- |

Enermax PSUs produce more current than any other.
You might also consider a certain ANTEC model with front panel controls.. http://www.antec-inc.com/us/pro_deta...p?ProdID=20552 |

Beware Antec TrueControl 550's. they are an awesome PSU, but i have had two go bang on me. one through having a component leg not cut off completly on the PFC board and arcing out on the chassis, and other from having a dodgy potentiometers on the control board which popped something. both were RMA'd and i have one thats been in use 24/7 for nearly 5 months now

I've had several Antec's and they are still running, 400 and 480. I'll probably go with the 550 on this next machine, it gets high marks. People in various places have commented that the basic True 550 is more reliable than the True Control model. In the end they are probably both good, and have been out long enough to have the kinks worked out.
So True 550 for my vote unless you need less oomph. |
