Problem or not?
Hello all
I have a meanwell 320 5 V PSU with 50 A. I just bought a 320 watt peltier with 26 A and 15.4 V. I will be undervolting this tec for my GPU. Now my calculations just started bothering me!!! 15.4*26=400.4 W 15.4/26=0.59 Ohm 5/0.59=8.49 A 5*8.49=42.45W Is that possible or not?? Because that would fry my GPU!! I also have another normal AT psu lying around with 20 A on the 5 Volt could I somehow attach this seriell to the other 5 V or not? Another question would be could I change the commutator to get 20 A -5 V then I would have 10 Volt electrical potential. With 10 Volt I would have something over 169 W which I am aiming for! |

Your knowledge is limited, hence why no one replied.
Indeed, P=V*I and V=R*I. Resistance on a TEC is not linear with amperage/voltage, but let's assume it is. Yes, if you undervolt a TEC, from the max of 15.4 down to 5 volts, it will operate at a lower power level. You can use two PSUs together, to generate 10 volts, as long as you know what you're doing; watch out for ground faults, and make sure that you don't exceed the amperage on either PSU. There's an article on this site about it. |

You'd be better off getting a 12V supply for that TEC. The 169W at 10V is power drawn not cooling delivered. At best you'll get 135W of cooling, but TEC efficiency is not linear so it may be less than that. 12-13V tends to be the sweet spot for 15V TECs.

Im putting a switch in for 10 V and a my meanwell still has v adjust so I guess no prob
Another question, my coldplate + cooler is about 750gr heavy, how on earth im a going to able to mount this thing?!! Wont it break the agp plug? no with 10 V ill have 207 W, a pelt can have a higher efficancy, try reading this they have prooven it! But its in german http://www.kaltmacher.de/viewtopic.p...r=asc&start=60 |
