Big Server case water cooled project
I got this case for free after a bit of support work and thought it would be perfect for water cooling. I have a cheiftec BX full tower case with a thermochill 120.2 in the top but everything is a bit cramped and it's difficult to get the air out with the rad up top.
The only thing wrong with the case is the motherboard tray. The top of agp / pci cards are flush with the side of the case and this is a problem for the maze4 gpu as the inlet / outlet will need a lot height above the agp card so i just removed the pop rivets and turned it 180 and i have all the space I need. I want to fit 2 x thermochill 120.2 rads mainly for silent running along with a res in the bottom part of the case. I removed a redundant power supply from the bottom and plan to use this to exhaust the air from both rads. I have quickly made a bracket for some spare thermochill fan mounts to show how the rads will fit. I will have a rad on each side of the case pulling air into the case and out through the back with a duct of some sort. This is it so far but i will post my progress. Lee

Whoa, that case is awesome! Do you have any more specs on it or a model # or anything? I have been looking for a good dual computer case for a while now...
EDIT: nevermind, just an optcal illusion with your pics

if you used micro atx or itx boards you could make shelfs and mount them horizontaly then you could fit 4 or 5 in there i guess

yeah, that is a cool case.
I like your idea for the radiator, I'll check in on this post and see how it's coming along later. |

2nd thermochill 120.2 and swiftech 650 pump arrived monday and i have been hard at it.
I made a res out of some acrylic i aquired from an old customer that had some spyware problems that i sorted for them. This was a failed first attempt as it leaked but i learned from my mistakes and make a 2nd one. Here you can see the 2 rads in the lower part of the case along with the res in the 5 1/4 drive bays and pump. This is not how it will be plumed in. I wanted to go res=pump=rads=cpu=gpu=chipset=res but the plumbing is a bit tight and i need to fit a bleed line in to the loop. I did a test off res=pump=cpu=gpu=chipset=rads=res. will having the water going to the rads = res = pump = cpu be worse than res=pump=rads=cpu as it will be sitting in the res before the cpu instead of passing through the rads. Next is to get the psu mounted in the top. then i need to look at cuting the side panles and painting ect.

The psu whole is cut a ready,
In the mean time i have sprayed the back and top matt black and started work on the front. I wanted the lian-li-pc v2000 tower for this project puting the rads in the bottom much like i have on this one but this case is free and so i have used a hexagon style mesh for air circulation and to add some detail on the case. Here is the front ready for painting, I plan to do the same on the side panels to allow air for the 2 rads. Only problem is i wanted to paint them before but it looks like i cant get the grills out with having to make them again so i will have to mask them.

I have the motherboard installed and have cut my tubes to size
I have a storm g4 , danger den z chipset and gpu. had to use 15mm copper right angles in and out of the gpu block but as they are 15mm they shouldnt kill the flow. not sure about my bleed t line between the rads but it works ok. Just need to move the rest of the stuff out of the old case.

i may be mistaken but in that system is the storm not limmited to the flow of "z chipset"?
ps NICE case

I used to run a cascade with the maze4 gpu , single thermochill 120.2 and hydor l30 with no problems but never got round to fitting the chipset block. As i run my fsb at 250 the northbridge got quite warm and i had to use a small fan to keep it cool. I intend to use black and silver colours for the case to match the storm.

I was thinking of settings the fans to pull through rads into the case and putting a sheet of perspex to seperate the rads from the computer section so the air can only escape out of the back of the case.

And the night shot
I changed the 4pin molex to glow ones and in the process took out the dvd-rom. Had a leak from the storm inlet after using butterfly hose clips and watched the de-ionised water bubble on the back of the vid card for a few seconds. Changed the clip to a plastic type and everything is back to normal.
