Seperate power supply
Im building an external box for my radiator and pump and i wanted to have it run of its own power supply, as well as all the fans in the box and my case.
Im goin to have 1x50z, 3x120mm fans, 2x80mm and a maxtrix orbital running off it. I was looking for something like a meanwell but im not sure what to get. Id like to able to plug it into the wall as well. Any suggestions? |

use a standard PSU (and remove the 24pin molex, i did).
Connect the green wire(depends on the psu) with a black one via a switch, or via a relay so it starts when your main psu starts. http://www.virtual-hideout.net/guide...mods/print.htm Note: dont run it for long without a load.

Short answer: yes.
they're built to operate with a minimum amount of load on the rails (its not alot, usually between 0.3 to 1.0 A on the 12v , for example, average 0.5 for minimum). each has different specs on that minimum amount (current related) but they do exist. if you're setting one up with those components connected, i dont think you'll have issues. (anyone else?).
