Dell bought Alienware
Interesting. Is this just an excuse for Dell to start using AMD CPUs?

Re: Dell bought Alienware
I read about that in the Wall Street Journal last friday. They plan on keeping Alienware (including all of its staff and infrastructure) fully intact. Unchanged. Interesting eh?
The are probably doing this to get a little street cred. I see them dumping their XPS line in the near future... hasn't performed as well as they would like. They will start selling AMD cpus if enough people demand them. Still a superior product. AMD inched its way past Intel last year to have 46% of the market (compared to Intel's 45% IBM's 9%). A lot of people were saying "just imagine if Dell didn't exclusively sell Intel chips..." |

AMD has been gaining market share on the overall CPU sales market as well. They are back in the 20% range. http://news.com.com/AMD+once+again+h...l?tag=nefd.top I was watching the stock market guru's this weekend on the news and they suggested buying AMD stock. Dell buying Alienware is pretty substantial for Alienware. They should be able to get and excellent price on parts with the buying power of Dell. That should increase profits for them. |

Re: Dell bought Alienware
I hope that in the change that they hold true to what they say about not changeing alienware. I would hate to see the quality of the product line be compromised.
