Default location of air trap

Does the air trap have to be at the highest point in your loop? Take a look at the pic and let me know what you think.

I want to make sure that the airtrap will still function even if it's below the radiator. If it's cool to mount the airtrap were I reference in the image, what would you say the min height should be for the trap. I plan to use 2" PVC for the trap.

With good flow it doesn't really matter, all air eventually gets cycled through anyway.

I'd make the trap as high as I could so it would hold more water.

well ideally it would be above everything else in the system, however it should still work well with only the radiator above it. Turbokeu has his below the radiator in his PC70 and it seems to work well for him. BTW, is that a YY Cube? It looks pretty sweet.

I have mine at the bottom of my pc71, right at the pump intake... Just a modest sized pvc res. Doesnt hold a bunch of water, and with the flow of my eheim 1250 it doesnt even splash. Very simple... now getting the air trapped in my radiator to get down to my little air trap is a different story all together.

just make sure the outlet is at the bottom of your air trap, so that no air will go straight through your system

Placing your airtrap and PSU at those locations sorta covers all your PCI/ISA/AGP-slots. I might be wrong though.

i think what the pic shows is the "other" side in a yycube case, the backplate is infact the back of the mobo plate. all the important stuff goes over on that side and you can put additional drives on this side. plus loads of space for watercooling
well i dunno either but it looks that way to me.

it isn't a YY case at all, it is a bit bigger. But it is the same sort of thing, that area is normally used for hdd's and psu's
