Real Mans Cooling - Vapor Phase... here I come!

On top of the already 10 new cooler designs I am working on, I have today convinced myself to look into a new field... something far more crazy then liquid cooling...

Vapor Phase. by building it myself.

Move over Kryotech, and ASETEK, Here comes Joe.

With a De-humidifier being basicly a low temp low pressure coolant line using freon and a compressor its actually not that hard to harness that to cool a chip. I am looking into multiple setup methods now, and trying to locate supplies, and people with knowledge with A/C systems that use Freon (car, home etc..).

Please email me if you do know a thing or 2 about working with freon.

you can also use a dehumidifier as a cooling device (precooling device maybe) for your liquid cooling setup and do VERY little modifications to the DH machine., I already have notes and some stuff sketched down on how to do that.. will post it at a later time... cant let all me secret projects out of the bag!

A few questions:

recharging the system with freon - is it tough to do? and working with an A/C system is easy???

I'm building a similar setup. It hasn't been too hard. It can be kind of a pain trying to find the parts you'll need. You need a license to handle refrigerants. I'm going to assemble every thing and then take it to local refrigeration shop to get it charged. If you have any questions email me at: thebybees@hotmail.com

Yeah cool that Foster guy. I read about his work when that same article showed up in OCTools which I think is one, if not, the most extreme cooling sites I have been too. At least slashdot agrees. They are the guys who did immersion cooling twice now using dry ice and liquid nitrogen as their coolant. You should check out his Dow Corning Silicone review too. Great site for cooling and overclocking like this site.

We've got a de-humidifier that my dad says I can rip apart instead of trying to use an old full-size fridge's compressor setup.

Yeh I sorta ditched my plans for that system over the summer due to lack of funds. But I may venture back into it after the DH3 article.
