Blue Orb
I just received the Blue Orb for my video card. My video card is the Hercules 3D Profet II MX 32MB. I don't think this is going to work unless I get out the dremel and chop this thing up. The resistors and stuff are in the way big time.If I use a shim on it will it lose mostof its cooling properties? Help

You can't rotate the thing or anything? How much is it blocked by the resistors?

dude I think you are lucky that the blue orb isnt fitting right. If you read what I think about the Blue Orb in the Pro/BS Forum (:-P) you will see. I hate all Thermal Take products, the only thing they get points for is look. But who cares, its just a waste of money when it comes to cooling products. Go here and get the tradional style replacement for the OEM HSF [ http://2cooltek.safeshopper.com/4/170.htm?123 ] sorry you got burned by the Thermal Take scam. LOL get it burned hahahhahahha, ok nevermind thats not funny :-)

Sorry phreenet but you are mistaken when it comes to the blue orbs cooling capabilities.
When i was running a TNT2U (Guillemot Xentor 32), I couldnt get it to run stable at anything above 160MHz core with its default hsf. Slap on a blue orb and suddenly I can run 185MHz core.. Nuff said, it cools far better than the stock hsf ever could, and thousands of reviews prove this. Stop talking shite please. ------------------ - Classic Athlon 650@750 w/ Globalwin FKK50, 256mb PC133, 32Mb Geforce 2 GTS, 40.9gb Maxtor DiamondMax 60+, 10gb Fujitsu Picobird, Pioneer DVD103-S, Ricoh RW7120A 12x burner, IBM Etherjet 100mbps NIC, Blueyonder 512kbps cable modem, top 92mm exausting blowhole, front 80mm intake, side 92mm intake blowhole, rear 60mm exaust, rear card exaust, blue orb on video card, heatsinks fitted to 756 chipset and PLL IC. Runs at 35^C full load. |

All i kan say is that it sure looked gud when i bought mine. I went home took out my geforce card, cleand off the old silver paste, put sum new silver on and WTF?!?! It didnt fit... I found out the hard way that the blorb does not fit on geforce cardz, just geforce2z... Then i decided to see if it wood fit on my chipset, nope not there either... So i sold it to a friend and im in the midst of doin a full water coolin rig.

Well I finally got tired of messing with the blue orb. Just this weekend I took it out back and shot it with my 6X284. Piece of sh##. I haven't felt this good in a month. Now it is not only blue but it is in so many pieces I can't find it.

I love my blorbs.. On my old A7V I had to remove two fins to clear a capacitor, that was pretty easy.. My A7V133 doesn't have that same capacitor so a blorb would fit it without modifications.. There's way too much junk around the chipset on my GF2MX to fit it on there, but the hsf that came on the chipset on my A7V133 fits that great.. heh.. I have noticed that my blorbs are the loudest things in my case when I have my other fans at 7v, just gotta wire them into the fanbus with the other fans now..
