received the md30rz
hello everyone...
just keeping you updated on the progress of my new WC system plan. i recieved my (slightly used) iwaki md30rz pump today. and, to nikhsub1, i will be placing it in the hard drive cage area of my sx830. the intake/output will be sticking out. sorry i dont have a digicam at this time so i cant really post any pics. so far i have my WW, and the pump. I going to go buy a radiator soon. since the pump has 3/4"NPT threads, im going to get some 5/8"x3/4FPT fittings for it. the iwaki is pretty heavy. also: any suggestions on how to fill a system with that much flow? (t-line) thanks.

im thinking of a 2.5 inch core, with around 7" width/height. there are a number of HC's that are like that. before i had decided on the 2-144, but i realised that it wouldnt fit.
right now im looking specifically at a corvette 77/78. i have to see what the store has in stock, though. ill be placing it on the front, where there are usually 2 80mm fans. ill be making a hole for a 120mm fan, and mouting it there, right underneath the pump. i still have to figure out where to get some shrouds.

Radiator performance isn't something to skimp on, especially if you're aiming to build a high-end system. I'd be looking at some 172mm Comair-Rotron fans to mount onto the radiator, rather than the (comparitively) wimpy 12cm fans. You'll be able to run such a fan at low voltage for low noise, and still kick any 12cm fan's butt.

If you can, I would mount the pump at the top of the 5.25 cage if possible, that pump is going to put out some SERIOUS heat into the case... My little MD-15R gets very warm, I can only touch it for 5 seconds before it burns. Anyway, if you can get it at the top and then install a blow hole right above the pump you would have a very good solution. Don't fret, Iwakis do get hot to the touch and this is normal, however they do not transfer much (if any) heat to the water.
