I was looking around and noticed these offerings from AcoustiCase, which uses multiple layers of structural support and acoustical insulation.
http://www.quietpcusa.com/acb/showde..._ID=61&CATID=9 http://www.acoustiproducts.com/en/futureproducts.asp Basically they've decided they can get away with taking a decent case (they're doing the same to the Antec Sonata), installing this insulation from their own product line, and selling the "modded" case. Hey, more power to them - the illustration looks like decent job to me. They won't be selling them until late June 2003, if even then. So I was wondering if anyone else has specific info about sound insulation - good cases to use, good types of insulation to use, and specific techniques. I see few cases with any actual insulation in them, but losts of examples of places selling sound-dampening foam without any indication of how and where to install it. Alchemy |

I use NoiseKiller in a Chieftek case, the insulation is precut to fit that specific case (pleases my ego mightily).
It does damp vibrations and fan sound to some degree, but doesn´t do jacksh*t about the fan on my GF4 ti4200. The only reason I don´t hear the HSF anymore is because I replaced it with a DD Maze3, *after* I got disappointed with the noise insulation. Though it *do* add a masculine amount of weight to the computer. regards Mikael S. |
