If I wanted to use TEC what would I buy?
I mean what type of peltier and which waterblock works most effectively. With a waterblock don't you need for it to dissapate 3 times the amount of heat the cold side is generating for it to be effective? Basically I'm asking for a checklist of what to buy and where to buy it, yes also the materials I would need to prevent condensation

silicone and dieletric grease is a must. order the swifty mcw462-ut its one of the best pelt/water blocks on the market period it comes with all insulation all you need is a 24a 12v PSU to run the 226w tec from and dieletric grease... also I would make sure you h20 setup could handle the heat load 226w+cpu

If i were to add a potted peltier (226w) to a water block that didn't have it installed, what would i need besides silicone and dieletric grease to make it condense proof and would a 550W truePower Antec powersupply do the job for power?

will the psu be dedicated to the tec? If it is then yeah, if its shared with the rest of the system, no.

check out Danger Den , look at the Meanwell power supply, 320w. Its perfect for a 226w pelt. It fits in a 5.25 drive bay, but is 9 inches long so make sure you have room between the drive cage and power supply.

If your talking about the two coming out of the pelt. itself, they screw into terminals into the power supply unit.

a 550 could do both if it has enough amps. find out what your system draws, then get the rating on the tec. Do math. My 500W seems to be able to handle it. Most 500's dont that I have seen.

what would the equation be? I = A/R (or is it I = A/C) ?

rtv silicon for the inner square of the socket and dielectric grease for the socket pins. Also, neoprene foam works well. Put some in the inner socket square and around the outside of the socket. Check this link for pelt installation w/ pics.Gruntville

Also check what the max draw is for the entire unit. Most 500's are only good for 400-450w, which doesn't leave a whole lot for the rest of the system. |
