I just put together a small windows xp system for my brother with a Albatron TNT2 video card, specifically the M64. The card is out of another system, also xp, so i know it works fine, but anytime i try to open a media player ( even shockwave or macromedia on websites!!!) or even some programs such as Norton SystemWorks, its locks up and i get the infamous blue screen, then it reboots.
Does anyone know whats wrong??? Albatron only has the latest NVidia drivers on their site... And the drivers i used are from windows xp itself Thanks in advance!!! |

so you _didn't_ install the latest drivers from the card site?
generally speaking windows drivers do pretty well with the graphics, as long as it's just plain-jane and not doing a lot of games. a lot of times when building workstations for work, i just used the default win98se/2k pro drivers for the ati 8mb/32mb cards, and they worked fine. but this was just used for stuff like email, office, clientaccess, that sort of thing. i'd try installing the drivers though first, see what happens.

iroc, i would have gladly installed the drivers from the site, if they had any. The only download they offer for any video card is the NVidia Detonator drivers.

bah, tnt isn't nvidia, is it?
did you try something like windrivers or google? here's a couple links you might try: m64 driver: http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/i....asp?pro_id=68 m64t: http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/i....asp?pro_id=68 m64r: http://www.albatron.com.tw/english/i....asp?pro_id=68 those are supposed to be drivers, you might try them out... edit: i see it says gf drivers, but that's the link the manufacturer porvides for that specific board, i'd at least try it...

hm.. ok. i didn't see much else on google about it, and the mfr says those drivers are the ones for the card. that sucks, but you can get a real ati like 32 or 64mb card for like $30 anyways, and since it's a tru ati, should work fine for your application.
